Event Details

To mark the anniversary of 9/11, screenings of three films explore the continuing impact this tragedy has on American culture. Theresa Thanjan’s Whose Children Are These? (2004) provides a view into the world of three Muslim teenagers affected by post-9/11 domestic anti-terrorism security measures. The Japanese American National Museum’s 9066 to 9/11: America’s Concentration Camps, Then…and Now? (2004) examines the parallels between the post-9/11 treatment of Arab Americans and the WWII experience of Japanese Americans. Robert A. Nakamura’s documentary Something Strong Within (1994) is a haunting compilation of rarely-seen home movies of the forced removal and incarceration of Japanese Americans during WWII. This program will be shown again on Saturday, September 16 at 4:30PM.
